Michael Love, Psy.D.
Michael Love is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Cook Counseling Center. His clinical interests include depression, anxiety, problems with alcohol and drug use, and men’s issues, as well as communication and relationships. He is currently conducting research on the possible benefits of using tabletop role-playing games as a method for developing social skills. In the past, he has conducted research on prescription drug abuse, empathy, identity-affirming practice with LGBT clients, and first-generation college students’ adjustment to university life.
Love approaches therapy primarily from a psychodynamic and interpersonal perspective, also including motivational enhancement techniques. His clinical work involves helping clients to understand themselves as well as to make practical changes in everyday life.
Love holds a Psy.D. in counseling psychology from Radford University.
