Leslie Lowry, M.Ed.
Leslie is a doctoral psychology intern at Cook Counseling Center for the 2018-2019 academic year. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at Samford University and her M.Ed. in Educational Psychology Texas A&M University. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. Leslie has a passion for working with college students dealing with a wide variety of concerns. She is particularly interested in working with students to address identity development concerns, relationship concerns, difficulties with the transition to college, and trauma. Additionally, Leslie enjoys providing support to students at Virginia Tech through group therapy and outreach. Leslie approaches her work with students with the goal of meeting them where they are, building a warm and authentic relationship, and working together to help them meet their goals. She hopes to create an environment which fosters safety, understanding, and interpersonal growth for clients. Her approach to therapy is influenced by humanistic and interpersonal therapies. She also incorporates mindfulness, self-compassion, and other resources to help meet the client’s needs. In her free time, Leslie enjoys painting, working out, and spending time with friends and family.
