Presentation
Assignment Guidelines and Expectations
As stated on the course syllabus, you will be expected to work in groups to develop a 15 - 20 minute final presentation to be given in class on a current issue related to the Greek community. The group will select a topic on their own and obtain the approval of the instructors. There are two parts to this project: verbal and written. The criteria used to grade the verbal portion of the project will include:
I. The introduction of the group members and the topic to be presented.
II. An explanation of the goal and learning objectives of the presentation.
III. Overhead transparencies or PowerPoint slides to visually present the major points.
IV. Two activities must be used that address specific learning styles.
V. One or two more visual(s), such as handouts or posters is suggested.
VI. Referral sources for obtaining additional information on the topic.
VII. A statement about where information used in the presentation was obtained.
VIII. A brief review of all major points covered in the presentation and the groups' conclusions.
IX. Time for class questions.
The group must notify the instructors a week PRIOR to their presentation regarding what equipment they need for their presentation. An overhead, screen, VCR, and monitor can be provided. If using PowerPoint, ONLY a projector will be provided. Your group will need to let an instructor know whether you have a PC or Mac computer if you are doing a PowerPoint presentation. The laptop computer would have to be supplied by the group. If using music, the portable stereo system would have to be supplied by the group.
In addition to preparing the group's final presentation, each group must also submit a written report. The written report should include the following components:

Outline of program |
| Please note that the purpose of this outline is to provide a detailed description of the program being presented. Any person looking at this outline should be able to give this program to an organization. The outline should state when slides and activities are used during the presentation. It should also provide an explanation for why each activity was chosen and what type of learner the activity reaches. | |
IV. |
All materials |
| Any materials needed to do the presentation should be included in your written report. This includes a paper copy of overhead transparencies or PowerPoint slides, handouts, quizzes, cartoons or anything else you would provide to the group during the presentation. Directions for conducting any activity included in the program should also be included in the written report. Materials must include an evaluation form that you have created for your program. |

| Include any teaching resources (such as an overhead, VCR, projector, etc.) that would be needed to recreate your presentation. |

Personnel |
| How many facilitators will be needed to give this presentation? What will each person be responsible for doing during the presentation? | |

| References for resources used to create the program must be included. They should be written according to the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 4th ed. (Available in the reference area of Newman Library, call number BF 76.7 P83 1994) | |

Group Peer Evaluation Forms |
| Each member of the group will submit a minimum of one paragraph describing his/her contribution(s) to the creation of the program and written project. Each member should also briefly comment on the compatibility and cooperation of all group members in regards to preparation. Each member must also submit a member contribution percentage for everyone in the group that equates to 100%. Example: Person A = 15%, Person B = 25%, Person C = 20%, Person D = 5%, Person E = 5%, Person F = 15%, Person G = 15% |
All instructors are available for questions and assistance if you have any problems in developing your programs. The guidelines above should be followed as closely as possible. Any area above not addressed may effect the group grade.
EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR FINAL PRESENTATIONS (on a 5 point Likert Scale):
Meeting stated
goal and learning objectives
Targeting at least two different learning styles
At least one activity provides an opportunity to reflect on, experiment with or
practice some aspect of the presentation topic
Visual aids add to the program
Sources for further information are provided
Clarity: vioce projection, enunciation of words, speaker's knowledge of information
Transition between speakers
Attentiveness of non-speaking members
Professional appearance
Delivery: energetic/enthusiastic; exhibits adequate preparation and rehearsal
Organization
Class members will also be asked to identify strengths and weaknesses of your presentation and may comment on any aspect of the presentation.
All group members will receive the same grade.
All reports are due the same day of the assigned presentation!!!
Presentation outlines from all groups are due the first presentation day!!!
