Intern Job Description

Primary Position Responsibilities:

        Provide group and individual counseling to students with career, academic, learning skills, and personal adjustment concerns.  This also involves selecting, administering, and interpreting proper tests.

        Design, implement, and evaluate programs consistent with the mission of the Cook Counseling Center.

        Provide in-house and outreach workshops related to academic, career development, and personal adjustment needs of students.

        Provide consultation and direct assistance to faculty and staff in matters involving mental health crises, assisting students to adjust to college, or program development.

        Recognize, evaluate, and refer cases involving serious psychiatric disturbance.  Consult with psychiatrists and physicians in cases requiring joint management.

 

Other Positions Duties:

        To provide direct supervision to Cook Counseling Center Department of Psychology / Counseling Psychology / Counselor Education Interns.

        Serve as CCC staff member on-call after hours to provide assistance in the management of emergencies and crises.

        Serve and fully participate in CCC staff meetings and case conferences.

        Serve and fully participate in CCC committees as assigned by Director, and Training Director.

        Generate and maintain such records as required by CCC in keeping systematic and organized data with regard to services and clients served.

 

Qualifications:

        Enrolled in doctoral training program in clinical or counseling psychology.

        Successfully completed qualifying examinations.

        Successfully completed all graduate course work.
