- Excellent facility, wide variety of training modalities and theoretical orientations
- Appears to be well planned, well thought out and complements the strengths of the staff
- Focus on supervision and the facilities to enhance supervision
- Well rounded staff, wonderful supervision program, and diverse training experiences
- The variety of opportunities to do groups and psychological assessment. The staff seemed friendly and devoted to the training of interns. The opportunity to gain training in supervising practicum students is also a bonus
- The clinical staff
- Beautiful facility, large diverse staff (interest-wise), friendly staff, link with Health Center
- Facilities, diversity of theoretical points of view
- Opportunities for individual, group and couples treatment
3. What do you see as the weaknesses of our training program?
- The restriction of the age range (of clients)
- Program did not have apparent weaknesses. However, location, stipend, and lack of staff and student diversity were drawbacks. I was very pleased with what I saw of the training program
- Not enough testing experience, especially Rorschach testing
- It would be great if interns had the opportunity to do an outplacement to gain experience with other populations
- All white staff, mostly white student body, an additional research requirement
- Salary; heard that chances to do a rotation outside the center are slim
- Seems like the interns carry a very large caseload
4. Does our web site provide adequate information regarding our program? Please explain.
- Yes, it does an excellent job of describing the program. There are no surprises when you visit.
- Yes, nicely designed and accessible. Results of previous surveys informative and helpful.
- Your website is wonderful!
- Yes.
- Yes. The web site provides a great amount of info, maybe too much. It takes hours to get through.
- The web site was very informative. I would also include information about the staff and their interests.
- Yes, however, I would download pictures of the waiting room, a group room and an intern office.
- Yes. The evaluations from last year were really helpful. Picture of Cook Counseling Center, description of Blacksburg.
- Yes. Very well designed site.
5. (If applicable) Did the telephone interview provide you adequate opportunity to demonstrate your strengths and unique abilities? Please explain.
- I felt the phone interview was very thorough and thoughtful.
6. Given a choice, would you prefer an on site interview or do you believe a telephone interview format is adequate?
- On-site.
- Think an on-site interview is critical to the decision making process.
- On site interviews were critical in my decision-making. This aspect of our training is too important to rely on the limited information which can be conveyed without a site visit.
- On site interviews.
- Telephone interviews are adequate, especially if open houses are provided.
- On site interviews are better from my perspective. Both parties can get a better feel for the match between the site and the applicant.
- Definitely site interview.
- On site interview was fun and informative. Your facility was hands down the nicest . Also people should see Blacksburg.
- On site, although I wasn't able to do it.
7. Based on your review of our materials and interactions with our staff how well do you believe our program meets the needs of individually and culturally diverse groups?
- I think it does an excellent job. It reaches out to all student body.
- Well.
- As far as I can tell, the program does a great job regarding these issues. However, the environment external to the counseling center may not be so conducive (lack of campus programs, limited diversity in the student population).
- More focus on including the International students in intervention programs would be useful.
- Very well.
- It seems that almost any clinical interest or theoretical orientation could be accommodated, however, there weren't any ethnic minority staff.
- Fairly well. My standards are high from working at Howard.
- Individually diverse groups seem well represented (e.g., gay and lesbian).
8. Other comments are welcome about any aspect of the Cook Counseling Center intern recruitment process:

- Found my interactions with staff to be uniformly respectful, considerate and helpful.
- I was very pleased with the training program and would have been happy to spend a year learning with your staff. However, I was not able to make it my first choice for a variety of reasons (lifestyle, relationship, professional goals, etc.) and was subsequently placed with my first choice.
- I enjoyed my interview experience at the center. The staff conveyed a dedicated and wholesome attitude that was appealing.
- You have a wonderful program. The money and location were important considerations for some people. Applicants interested in counseling centers would have been very lucky to have matched with you.
- I enjoyed the format of the interview. I really felt I got a good feel for your site. The questions were fair and the faculty were polite and friendly.
- I liked having lunch with the interns. The interview was well organized and fun.
