 The American Counseling Association (ACA) provided assistance to Virginia Tech students during summer 2007.  Licensed professional counselors throughout the United States volunteered to provide up to five counseling sessions at no charge to Virginia Tech students over the summer of 2007.

Information for any student who was in Norris Hall at the time of the attack or any student who is a resident of West Ambler Johnston Hall is available from the Commonwealth of Virginia's Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund (Phone: 800-552-4007).


The Marriage and Family therapy program and the Counselor Education program at the Northern Virginia Center are providing direct services and referral services for Virginia Tech students and family members.  Please call the Center for Family Services at 703-538-8470 for more information. The office is open between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.

The Wellness Corporation has generously agreed to provide telephone counselors to talk with Virginia Tech students and parents when the Cook Counseling Center is closed. Trained mental health counselors will be available through the hotline number: 1-800-828-6025  from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m.
