CONCLUSION

    This program has discussed a variety of study skills that can be used from the first day of class to improve one's study skills.  These strategies include:

Bullet Taking good notes;
Bullet Reviewing notes after each class;
Bullet Using SQ3R;
Bullet Getting control of your time;
Bullet Beginning to prepare for specific tests a week in advance;
Bullet Incorporating self-testing into your study schedule; and
Bullet Practicing good test taking strategies.

    Developing good study skills requires hard work. It is often easiest to focus on building skills in one area at a time.  If you continue to have questions about strategies you might use to improve you study skills, you may wish to review other Internet pages on our web site related to specific study skills or call the Cook Counseling Center at Virginia Tech or the counseling center or learning skills center on your campus to arrange an appointment with a counselor.
